You can listen episodes under the area!

The words “Online Dispute Resolution” might evoke images of innovation from the Covid-19 era or perhaps sound like the newest service offered by Facebook or Google.  But in actuality, the practice dates back decades, to the early days of the internet.  As the name it implies, it is the means by which consumers—disputants can bring resolve their disputes without ever being in the same room.

Colin Rule has been a pioneer in the development of this practice area and has seen it evolve from its inception to being a hallmark of the dispute resolution field.  He is also the guest, for this final episode of Season 3 of Tales of the Tribunal.  He shares perspective, insights and even a bit of forward-looking on the world of ODR.  It’s a great conversation to end the season on and we hope you enjoy!

Legacy.  Impact.  Influence.  Things that many seek to have but are difficult to achieve.  This is true across any profession, including the legal profession and that effect is magnified when you consider an international legal career.  Which is why its that much more impressive when someone is able to accomplish said impact, and that is the story of this week’s guest, Barry Appleton.  Barry has occupied a number of positions and roles throughout his career and shares his experience and perspective as counsel, arbitrator, mentor and educator in the field.  Check it out:

Video Games used to be a niche interest for computer enthusiast who were lucky enough to have rare access to a university computer lab.  Decades later they are as complex and dynamic as they are ubiquitous!  They are so popular that entire industries have sprung up around them, one of the most interesting ones is the world of E-Sports, and in particular, E-Sports Law!

This week’s guest Leonid Shmatenko has been one of the early adopters in this space and has become a thought leader on the topic.  We talk this week about how got involved with E-sports, where he thinks the field is going, and how the average lawyer can get involved and have a tangible impact.

So, Player One, get ready, and enjoy our conversation!

In a week where locations best known for their colder temperatures are seeing record setting spikes in temperature, the importance of addressing Climate Change could not be more pivotal.  While oceans rise, infrastructure buckles and human health is affected it is incumbent among those in the corporate and legal industries to do our part to address this looming crisis.  That’s where this week’s guest comes in.

Annette Magnusson is one of the Co-Founders over at Climate Change Counsel, a consulting firm dedicated to the fundamentals of sustainability and preservation of the environment, particularly, in the legal space.  We talk about this new initiative, Annette’s time as Secretary General at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and much more.
